PTX Wins
2005 South Zone Sr. Championships

March 6, 2005, Coral Spring, FL

Battling through tough competition from talented teams like the Coral Springs Aquacades, Miami Wave Synchro, Austin Angelfish, and Northern Virginia Nerieds, the Pirouettes of Texas captured the overall point trophy for the 5th straight year at the South Zone Senior Synchronized Swimming Championships held March 4-6, 2005, in Coral Springs, FL.

With only 9 swimmers, PTX made every routine count. The PTX swimmers claimed 3rd in Trio, 1st in Duet, 3 places (2nd, 4th, 5th) in Solo, and 3 places (2nd, 4th, 5th) in Figures. With the last swim of the day in finals, their “Cabaret” team routine exhibited the technical strength that has become synonymous with PTX, securing them a 1st place medal with a score of 85.0, edging out the Aquacades to make for an extremely exciting and satisfying finish to the competition. Their success led them to a 13 point victory for the overall Championship Trophy.

A tired (and slightly sunburn) team returned home Sunday evening with the same trophy they took with them on Thursday to defend. The preparation was brutal, but the victory is sweet; and now the team feels like it was worth it all.
