The meet theme
couldn't have been more appropriately picked. With the South
Zone Region C Championships in their own back yard, the Pirouettes
along with 5 other teams dodged threatening weather and in
some cases performed in the rain to show that they are "Dangerous
When Wet".
With their focus
on a trophy that slipped from their hands just one year ago,
PTX fielded 22 swimmers against stiff competition from their
friendly foes from Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Clear Lake,
and Houma. |

|
With
a strong showing by the visiting teams, PTX found themselves
trailing in points after both the Trio and Duet competition
on Saturday. But by the time Saturday competition concluded
with the Team routines, the PTX 14-15 teams, the 16-17 team,
and the 18-19 team had pulled together to give PTX their first
point lead of the meet, although it was only a narrow 10 points.

The
swimmers from every team relaxed on Saturday night at the Pajama
Games - the PTX-hosted athlete banquet filled with fun, food,
and lots of prizes. Even the coaches seemed to get into the spirit
as they dressed up in their pajamas and took in the festivities.

|
| But it was back to business on Sunday as the weather cleared
up and the race for the trophy was back on. The Solo competition
would prove to be the Pirouette's finest hour. With entries
in 5 of the 6 Age Group divisions, PTX managed to grab the top
position in all 5, not to mention also placing 2nd in 4 of the
5 divisions and sweeping the top 3 positions in 2 of the 5.
It was nothing short of domination - all PTX would need to take
a commanding 70 point lead by the end of the meet and reclaim
the South Zone Region C Championships High Point Trophy. |

The girls relished in the victory on their home turf, and
didn't forget to involve their coaches in the celebration
(by throwing them into the pool). Look at those wonderful
ballet legs :-)

Congratulations
goes out to all of the teams in Region C as they showed their
Synchro Excellence in competition and spirit throughout the
meet. We look forward to seeing all of them again next year
in Houston. |
CONGRATULATIONS
PTX!!!
