PTX 14-15 Team Swims to 4th Place
Plus 6 Other Top 10 Finishes

June 28, 2005, Buffalo, NY

So what is there to do in Buffalo? Well you could drive 30 minutes to see Niagara Falls (and we did); but while the Pirouettes of Texas were in town for the 2005 Esynchro National Age Group Synchronized Swimming Championships, the place to be for excitement was the Flickinger Aquatic Center in downtown Buffalo. With attitude and spunk, the girls of PTX brought their STAR Power and "used it".

First up were the 12-13 swimmers, where Camille Driver held nothing back as she brought home the Silver medal in both Solo and Figures. The field was over 40 routines deep in every category, the largest at National Age Group in more than 3 years. Even with such a deep field, other PTX 12-13 routines found themselves easily in the top 20, including Anna Flinchbaugh in Solo at 11th and the duet of Anna Flinchbaugh and Shelby Patton at 15th. A fantastic display of STAR Power by our 12-13 swimmers.

The team marched on into the 14-15 competition, where 5 more top 10 slots were claimed by a PTX swimmer - including PTX's very own Mary Killman taking home the Gold medal in 14-15 Solo.

After last year's Silver medal 12-13 Solo performance in Indianapolis, Mary's competitors had no choice but to worry about her presence. First Mary claimed the Silver medal in Figures, placing her in a strong 1st place position going into Solo finals, which she refused to relinquish.

But PTX did not stop there, Claire Evans wrapped up the 10th spot in 14-15 Solo with a STAR Power performance of her own.

And even with one of the deepest Trio fields in recent memory, the 14-15 Trio of Camille Driver, Claire Evans, and Mary Killman grabbed the 4th spot in the nation with a great swim of their Texas Hoe Down routine. The 14-15 Duet of Angela Driver and Jillian Patton also showed their STAR Power by finishing 18th, turning the tables on those routines that edged them out at the qualifying Regional championships.

So how did PTX decide to finish off the 14-15 competition? With attitude and spunk. In arguably the most competitive category at National Age Group, the PTX 14-15 "Cabaret Girls" Team routine found themselves in 6th place after the semi-final swim, but with a spectacular showing in Figure competition (the 2nd best Team figure average), the team raised their position to 5th. And after it was all over, the team had managed to climb one more spot to finish at 4th in the Nation, improving on their 5th place finish just one year ago in Indianapolis. Congratulations to the "Cabaret Girls": Angela Driver, Camille Driver, Claire Evans, Olivia Fabri, Anna Flinchbaugh, Mary Killman, Jillian Patton, and Shelby Patton.

   Way to GO Cabaret Girls!!!
